The Bayelsa State Police Command has extended the dusk-to-dawn curfew previously put on the state from 17 February to 23 February.

During a press briefing in Yenagoa, State Police Commissioner, Mr Uche Anozia, confirmed the curfew extension Monday.

"The Bayelsa State Police Command would like to commend the general public for their good behavior in observing the dusk to dawn curfew imposed on the state on Thursday 13 February 2020 as a result of the violent protest that accompanied the Supreme Court judgment.

"On the other hand, in the light of the reliable intelligence available to the Command in relation to the prevailing security situation in the State of Bayelsa, the Command found it appropriate to review and extend the curfew to Sunday, February 23, with effect from today, Monday 17, from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.

"Public representatives are advised to stay indoors as security agencies will apprehend anyone who breaches the curfew; action will be carried out against such outlaws. We are also advised to remain calm as the command is poised to ensure the protection of the state's life and property, "he said.
