Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has said the truth about the explosion on the Lagos pipeline was secret.

The explosion happened about 9 a.m. on Sunday after a truck hit some gas cylinders in a gas processing plant, according to NNPC.

The gas plant was situated near the right of way for System 2B pipeline of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

However, as clarified by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC), Fani-Kayode said the major devastation witnessed at Abule Ado could not have been caused by the explosion of a gas pipeline.

"What happened yesterday at Lagos has been devastating. So much damage & life loss. Sad. Damn it. They say it was triggered by a gas pipeline explosion but I doubt it. A pipeline explosion can not cause such major & widespread damage. More to this than meets the eye, "tweeted Fani-Kayode.

No fewer than 17 people were reported to have been confirmed dead and 25 others injured after the explosion rocked the Abule-Ado district, near the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Amuwo Odofin Local Government District.

The explosion affected more than 50 buildings in the area, with hundreds of residents being made homeless.

What happened in Lagos yesterday was tragic. So much destruction &loss of life. Sad. They say it was caused by the explosion of a gas pipeline but I doubt that.Such massive &widespread destruction cannot be caused by a pipeline explosion. There is more to this than meets the eye.
