Buhari sacked NECO registrar and four staff for fraud

President Muhammadu Buhari has, according to Vanguard, sacked Charles Uwakwe as National Examinations Council Registrar and four other management workers for different offences.

Their dismissal comes after a panel reviewing allegations of misconduct against them while it was recommended that they be placed on suspension.

In the letter signed by Sonny Echono, the permanent secretary, Uwakwe was accused of breaching the act of public procurement.

A statement from the council 's head of information and public relations, Azeez Sani, said the “President in exercise of his powers, has approved your removal as Registrar / Chief Executive Officer of National Examinations Council with effect from the date of your suspension from duty ”.

He had been instructed to hand over all government property in his custody to the Council's Acting Registrar.

The officers involved are: Mr. Bamidele Olure, Acting Director (Finance and Accounts), Dr. Shina Adetona, Division Head of Procurement, Mr. Tayo Odukoya, Deputy Director and Barr. Babatunde Aina, the head of matters for the Legal / Board.
