A 36-year-old man, Fatai Oyedele was saved from death clutches after he attempted suicide by jumping into the famous Ogun River in Abeokuta, capital of the Ogun State on Wednesday, June 24 , 2020.

DailyPost announced that the men from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) had rescued Oyedele from the water.

The man was reportedly seen with an insecticide bottle, suspected to be a sniper, and is said to be a resident of the state's Tourist Estate, Obere Atan-Ota town.

It was not clear how he was moving all the way for the failed suicide mission from Atan-Ota to Abeokuta.

The Ogun TRACE Corps spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident revealing that Oyedele, who tried the suicide is a clothes seller, is married to five children.

He said Oyedele “attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the river with a poisonous insecticide in his hand.

“Our prompt intervention and the help of some civilians at the scene evaded what would have been an eventual suicide

“He was pulled out of the river and was later taken to the Adigbe Police Station for further investigation.”
