Study-In-Netherlands 2022: Scholarships for Developing Countries from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF)

 Scholarships from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will be available for the academic year 2022-2023, covering about half of the total cost of the program (€17,500).


The remaining portion is intended to be covered by the candidate. These scholarships are available for the Water and Health track's Sanitation profile. The BMGF scholarship is not available for other songs or profiles.

You, your company, or another sponsor, or a combination of these, can supply the matching funds. Women, in particular, are urged to apply for this prize.

Scholarship Details:

The MSc in Water and Sustainable Development (beginning in November 2022) and the Research MSc in Water and Sustainable Development (starting in November 2022) are two new Master of Science programs offered by IHE Delft (starting yearly in November as of 2023).


IHE Delft's 18-month MSc programs are no longer accepting applications.


Scholarship Requirements:

If you wish to apply for this scholarship you need to meet the following criteria:


Be from a low or middle income country (see list on OECD website)

Have a provisional admission to the programme

Have secured 50% matching funds (evidence required)

Scholarship Duration and Reward

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation covers approximately 50% (€17,500) of the total cost of the program.

Criteria for selection

Female candidates will receive at least half of the scholarships. Selection will also be made on the basis of your motivation, which you must demonstrate in the application form when submitting your online application.


As a result, it's critical to pay special attention to the motivation questions. Applicants whose motivation best aligns with the program's goals will advance to the next round of selection (interview).
